Hazrat Ali (RA)
Ibn ʿAbbās reported:
ʿUmar was placed upon his bier, and people gathered around him, supplicating for him and praying over him before he was lifted. I was among them. Suddenly, a man took hold of my shoulder, and it startled me. It was ʿAli. He asked Allah to have mercy on ʿUmar and said:
“You have not left behind anyone whose deeds I would love more to meet Allah with than yours. By Allah, I truly thought that Allah would place you together with your two companions (the Prophet ﷺ and Abū Bakr). I used to frequently hear the Prophet ﷺ say:
‘I went with Abū Bakr and ʿUmar,
I entered with Abū Bakr and ʿUmar,
and I came out with Abū Bakr and ʿUmar.’”
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ وُضِعَ عُمَرُ عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ فَتَكَنَّفَهُ النَّاسُ يَدْعُونَ وَيُصَلُّونَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُرْفَعَ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ فَلَمْ يَرُعْنِي إِلَّا رَجُلٌ آخِذٌ مَنْكِبِي فَإِذَا عَلِيٌّ فَتَرَحَّمَ عَلَى عُمَرَ وَقَالَ مَا خَلَّفْتَ أَحَدًا أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ أَنْ أَلْقَى اللهَ بِمِثْلِ عَمَلِهِ مِنْكَ وَايْمُ اللهِ إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَظُنُّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَكَ اللهُ مَعَ صَاحِبَيْكَ وَحَسِبْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ كَثِيرًا أَسْمَعُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ذَهَبْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَدَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَخَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ
