After Me, Follow These Two

Hadith
Hudhayfah reported: We were sitting with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said, “I surely do not know how much longer I will remain with you. After me, follow these two,” and the Prophet pointed to Abu Bakr and Umar.

Ponder This Hadith

The Prophet ﷺ was known for clear and explicit guidance, especially on matters that would affect the Ummah after his death.

If Imamat were a divinely mandated pillar of the religion—central to guidance and salvation—why is it never stated with this level of clarity?
Why is it not taught openly, named explicitly, and commanded directly?

Why, instead, does the Prophet ﷺ instruct the Sahabah to follow senior companions who learned the deen directly from him, rather than appeal to lineage or an undisclosed office?

Is this not evidence that leadership after the Prophet ﷺ was understood through knowledge, trust, and proven righteousness—not through a concealed theological system never clearly taught?
