“You say useless things — there is no benefit in the hereafter from this. Many foolish people think that they should worship in the Arabic language. But what benefit will the Khojas living in India get from the Arabic language? In the Arabic language, Arabic prayer is fine for Arab people. For those who can understand its meaning, it is fine. But one who is not Arab and prays mindlessly without understanding — he is like a crow going ‘caw caw’. Those who do not understand the meaning — their soul is not in it. They merely babble with their mouths.”
بے کار باتیں کرتے ہو، اس سے آخرت کا کچھ فائدہ نہیں ہوتا۔ بہت سے نادان لوگ ایسا خیال کرتے ہیں کہ عبادت عربی زبان میں کریں۔ لیکن ہندوستان کے رہنے والے خوجوں کو عربی زبان میں کیا فائدہ ہوگا؟ عربی زبان میں، عربی نماز عرب لوگوں کے لئے ٹھیک ہے۔ جو انکی معنی سمجھ سکتے ہیں، انکے لئے ٹھیک ہے۔ جو عرب نہیں اور سمجھے بغیر بے خود نماز پڑھتا ہے، تو وہ کوے کی طرح کائیں کائیں کرتا ہے۔ جو معنی نہیں سمجھتے، اسکا روح اس میں نہیں ہوتا۔ وہ صرف منہ سے بک بک کرتے ہیں۔
Bekār bātein karte ho, is se ākhirat kā kuchh fā’idah nahīṅ hotā. Bahut se nādān log aisā khayāl karte hain keh ‘ibādat ‘Arabī zabān mein karein. Lekin Hindustān ke rehne wāle Khojōṅ ko ‘Arabī zabān mein kyā fā’idah hogā? ‘Arabī zabān mein, ‘Arabī namāz ‘Arab logoṅ ke liye ṭhīk hai. Jo unkī ma’nī samajh sakte hain, unke liye ṭhīk hai. Jo ‘Arab nahīṅ aur samjhe baghair be-khud namāz paṛhtā hai, to woh kawwe kī ṭaraḥ kāeyn kāeyn kartā hai. Jo ma’nī nahīṅ samajhte, uskā rūḥ us mein nahīṅ hotā. Woh sirf muṅh se bak bak karte hain.
