Documented Farman — Sultan Muhammad Shah (Aga Khan III)
“You have heard about the Mi’raj (Ascension) of the Holy Prophet — what did you think about it? People say that the Prophet rode on a horse and went to the Mi’raj. These are all just tales of the people… The examples that the Prophet gave — only someone intelligent and wise will understand their meaning. But the one who is foolish will say that these stories and tales are true… The intelligent one will answer that this is a metaphor.”
حضرت رسول اکرم کے معراج کے متعلق تم نے سنا ہے، اس متعلق تم نے کیا خیال کیا؟ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ حضرت رسول گھوڑے پر بیٹھ کر معراج پر گئے۔ یہ سب لوگوں کی باتیں ہیں… پیغمبر نے جو مثالیں فرمائی ہیں، اسکی معنی کوئی عقل والا، دانا ہوگا، وہ سمجھے گا۔ لیکن جو بے عقل ہوگا، وہ کہے گا کہ قصے کہانیاں سچی ہیں… عقل مند جواب دے گا کہ یہ ایک مثال ہے۔
Ḥazrat Rasūl-e Akram ke mi’rāj ke muta’alliq tum ne sunā hai, us muta’alliq tum ne kyā khayāl kiyā? Log kehte hain keh Ḥazrat Rasūl ghoṛe par baiṭh kar mi’rāj par ga’e. Yeh sab logoṅ kī bātein hain… Paighambar ne jo misālein farmā’ī hain, uskī ma’nī koī ‘aql wālā, dānā hogā, woh samjhe gā. Lekin jo be-‘aql hogā, woh kahe gā keh qisse kahāniyāṅ sachī hain… ‘Aql mand jawāb de gā keh yeh ek misāl hai.
